Opening Revolution’ scoops top award
A show-stopping, innovative new glass jar closure Orbit™, from Crown Closures Europe, stole the show at the annual UK Packaging Awards winning the Metal Pack of the Year, along with Innovation of the Year and Consumer Convenience.
Orbit™ represents a revolution in metal vacuum closures with a two-part design to reduce opening torques while minimising material usage. This required new cutting, forming and assembly processes, plus extensive production and testing trials.
The result is an exquisite new closure, simplicity itself to open and which can be run on existing capping machinery. And crucially, the glass jar finish can remain exactly the same.
Orbit™ is currently being used by Duerrs.
OPTILIFT® Even Easier Opening
Easy opening is central to good packaging design but Ardagh Metal Packaging’s OptiLift® incorporates a deeper, integrated finger-well which helps users engage the finger under the ring-pull tab, grip it and lift it up to open the can. Available in all standard diameters, consumer research has shown that OptiLift® is the preferred opening solution by 75 per cent of consumers compared to existing ends on the market.
Renewed Energy
ROK Natural Energy, was repackaged in FUSION aluminium bottles using DWI (Drawn Wall Ironed) technology enabling customised, exclusive bottle shapes, and in particular differing neck lenghts. For ROK, this was ideal in creating a premium pack appealing to a more sophisticated and mature palette. The aluminium bottles were manufactured by Rexam Beverage Can Europe and Asia.
Tactile ink was used to create the feel of a ‘refreshed touch’ on the outside of a Heineken can. The finish gives the impression of condensation, enhances the cues of cold and freshness, and is given greater emphasis by only being used in specific areas of the can. The cans were manufactured by CROWN Bevcan UK.
This bespoke container for ‘Dominant Rosin’ was produced by Roberts Metal Packaging to house musical instrument rosins with an application cloth. The product needed to be easily removed from the container, appeal to classical musicians and remain functional throughout the long life of the product.
A new, handy Maxi 3.1-litre format to fit every fridge, easy to cool, tapped directly and perfect for parties, this is an ideal pack for different types of beer and premixed drinks from Ardagh Metal Packaging.
The three-piece WORC PET laminated bottle is resealable, unbreakable and gives a total barrier against oxygen and light. Body and cap can be completely printed and, being metal, enhances product quality and increases on-shelf impact. Manufactured by Ardagh Metal Packaging.
