Celebrity chef Theo Michaels renews as CFUK ‘CANbassador’ for another year
Canned Food UK (CFUK) which shows consumers new and exciting ways to cook with canned food, has enjoyed record growth in website views over the last three years.
The website, cannedfood.co.uk run by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA), was relaunched in 2020 following the pandemic, and has since achieved a 498 percent increase in page views per month, and 601 percent uptake in website users per month.
In addition to growth in website views, CFUK now has over 18,000 followers across its social media platforms on Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
Key to CFUK’s success has been its work with a host of ‘CANbassadors’ including MasterChef finalist duo, Billy & Jack; Instagrammer Mandy Miller Simmonds, @simplyfoodbymandy; and recipe book authors Jack Monroe, Lola Milne and Bart Van Olphen.
TV chef Theo Michaels has been a CFUK ‘CANbassador’ for the last two years and has once again been commissioned to create exciting new recipes in 2024.
Last year Theo created a new collection of recipes to commemorate King Charles III’s coronation, including the showstopping crowned artichoke chorizo quiche.
The website’s most popular recipe to date, achieving over 3000 page views, is the creamy brown lentil daal by consumer rights champion and food writer, Jack Monroe.
Jason Galley, chief executive and director of MPMA, commented:
“Canned Food UK has created a vast store of quick and simple recipes for easy access online. There are now well over 200 dishes to choose from spanning breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And with clever dinner party recipes, camping and caravanning meals, a take on family favourites, plus different ways to use the many and varied ingredients available in cans, CFUK is now a well-established source of cooking inspiration.”
